Position Summary:
The Data Scientist role will be responsible for building net new data science models to enhance the analytical capabilities for NA Commercial organization. This person will play an integral role in building and executing against the data science objectives end-to-end to support revenue growth, profitability, and white space opportunities. This individual should have a strong data science skillset, but also the ability to see the bigger picture of how model results translate into actionable business recommendations. Additionally, this person must be a self-starter and capable of taking full ownership of the development and deployment of data science projects with autonomy. The role will be interacting with several cross functional teams across the Brand, Growth Strategy, and IT. This role will be breaking new ground for the broader organization, requiring the ability to be the subject matter expert on data science for the business.
Accountabilities
- Own the building and deployment of Marketing Mix Models to support Edgewell’s brand objectives; Also will entail data management and dataset construction
- Improve and scale retail store-level POS (consumption) based forecasting models by leveraging big data and machine learning, supporting North America and customer specific objectives
- Create a standardized framework and automated procedures for model refreshes with extensive documentation
- Consult business teams on measurement model requirements, capabilities, and results as well as provide recommendations on how to best leverage model outputs
- Monitor, manipulate and analyze datasets from a variety of sources to identify opportunities and optimization recommendations
- Present and effectively communicate data and insights to internal teams providing supporting evidence for recommendations
- Stay close to industry trends and tech developments to support the continuous improvement of Edgewell’s analytics approach
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelors or Master’s degree (mathematics/statistics, data science, or computer science)
- Strong data science skills including the ability to analyze & clean raw data, develop & deploy models, and build recommendations that are focused on business impact and performance
- 2+ years of professional experience working in data analytics and/or data science
Desirable Education, Skills and Experience
- Experience working in a complex, dynamic organization and driving high impact projects from beginning to end
- Experience using ETL (extract, transform, load) tools and experience with large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action
- Strong experience with deployment of machine learning and deep learning models in production
- Preferred experience working with marketing data
- Strong experience with cloud based ML frameworks (Snowflake, Azure, AWS preferred)
- Strong proficiency with Python and SQL
- Strong proficiency with Github and MLOps
Working Relationships
- The Data Scientist will be required to build relationships and demonstrate value across several cross functional teams including Brand Marketing, Sales, Growth Strategy, and IT.
Work Environment
- Some travel may be required.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
