Responsibilities
- Be involved in the full analytical lifecycle: from understanding business and technical requirements from stakeholders, data understanding, domain understanding, choosing the right technical method for developing the analysis, implementing it and explaining the insights to stakeholders. This also involves collaboratively working with Data engineering to define key data requirements, review data and analyzing data to drive impactful decisions to the business
- Using technologies like Azure ML, Python, PySpark and more and other Microsoft internal tools for analysis and modeling
- Data retrieval and analysis tools like SQL, Kusto
- Data visualizations and story telling with tools like PowerBI
- Perform and get insights from data analysis – visualizing big data, looking for insights from massive telemetry, coming from hundreds of millions of records per day
- Work closely with partner teams, data engineering, product managers and other stakeholders
- Contribute to team culture and adapt and support best practices in business intelligence
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with working with large scale data.
- Experience with Python, Azure ML or similar
- Experience with data wrangling and story-telling with told like Tableau, PowerBI and/or Stakeholder presentations
- Ability to leverage understanding of data science/Analytics and business to examine projects through a customer-oriented focus.
Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
