Responsibilities:
- Work with desk heads, traders and analysts in order to gain understanding of current data flow, data architecture, investment process, and functional requirements for Data Science analysis.
- Deliver end-to-end Data Science solutions for users from data ingestion through to production using advanced analytics / machine learning models using both commercial tools and custom coding.
- Apply understanding of the mathematical/statistical fundamentals behind machine learning to improve existing applications and inspire new ones.
- Help drive alpha for users by assisting with identifying and back testing of new data sets.
- Lead communication between commercial teams, vendors, and key stake holders on key projects.
- Assist with managing strategic initiatives around larger big data projects for commercial business.
- Contribute to our sourcing database of data vendors.
- Ad hoc research on project topics such as data and vendor trends, usage best practices, big data trends, artificial intelligence, vendors, etc.
- Execute continuous data ingestion/model improvements as more data comes in over time.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in data analysis and modeling, ideally in financial services.
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field of study with a focus in machine learning.
- Ability to work with large, complex data sets.
- Experience with SQL and Python is required.
- Prior experience in commodities is preferred, but not required
