General Description

As the Data Historian Engineer (AVEVA PI / Aspen), you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of our customers Level 3/Level 4 data management, historian, and reporting needs. The primary Data Historian of responsibility for this role is the AVEVA PI System. This is a unique opportunity to be a critical part of building a new business.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

Technical Expertise:

• Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in data management, historians, data lakes, and reporting.

• Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Data Historians such as the AVEVA PI System, along with other platforms and technologies such as Seeq, AMS Optics, Aspen Inmation, Asset Performance Management (Mtell / proMV / Fidelis), and Advanced Process Control (DMC3).

• Develop solutions with various combinations of platforms to serve our customer’s needs regarding operations compliance & scheduling, enterprise historian solutions, facilities energy monitoring/management, reporting (batch, shift, and environmental), and machinery/equipment reliability.

• Engage with sales to develop solutions that meet customers’ desired outcomes.

• Lead and write proposals with support of internal resources for proof of concepts, project executions, trainings, maintenance and support agreements, upgrades, etc.

• Support software project execution including acceptance tests, deployment, and post-deployment support.

• Support data integration across multiple platforms including DeltaV, OPC UA and DA, AVEVA, AspenTech, Modbus, SQL-Based Data, and others.

• Meet with customers at sites across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

• Responsible for understanding and recommending best practices for system architecture and design.

 

Project Execution:

• Coordinate with project resources, adhere to project schedules, and communicate project progress to stakeholders.

• Resolve project-related issues and provide updates and guidance to project teams.

• Ensure the delivery of high-quality services by developing and adhering to quality control processes, performance metrics, and milestone deliverables.

• Participate in regular reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Sales Support:

• Collaborate with the sales team to develop and implement strategies for services.

• Assist in the preparation of proposals, estimates, presentations, and other sales materials.

• Engage with customers to understand their service needs and provide solutions.

• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to foster repeat business and referrals.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering).
• Experience with Data Historians, primarily AVEVA PI, and analysis / reporting tools in a plant environment.
• Experience with both cloud and on-prem deployments.
• Experience with scripting and coding languages.

Preferred Experience / Competencies

• Experience in one or more of the following industries: Chemical, Life Sciences, Energy, Food & Beverage, Metals & Mining, and/or Pulp & Paper
• Project management, traditional and agile
• Business development
• Certifications in relevant areas are a plus.
• Experience with control system hardware and software are a plus, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), and SCADA applications.
