The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As a Data Center Support Analyst, you will manage space allocation, IT hardware (compute, storage, network) installation and decommission projects, physical network infrastructure and Computer Room access/security for the enterprise Data Center buildings located at 3M Center. Additional support includes:
- Management of new platform space allocation and power requests, new platform hardware physical installation and network infrastructure (copper and fiber) installation
- Planning of infrastructure and capacity requirements to accommodate future needs for rack space, power, underfloor tray and cable routing and fiber connectivity needs.
- Providing technical solutions and developing improvements to technologies used in Layer 0 network (physical media such as single-mode fiber, copper patch cables and associated hardware)
- Responsibility for the physical security of the Computer Room: access approvals, vendor and 3M staff escorting, automated access tools (Change Record) management, removable media, and new hardware physical security measures.
- Providing work priorities for Facilities Technicians (Contingent Workers) and Low voltage wiring contractors to meet project requirements and timelines.
- Server Installation including upgrades of supported hardware. Management of the Self-Maintainer processes of Data Center server hardware including hard drives, power supplies, memory, fans, and batteries. Process and inventory control on necessary hardware for supported infrastructure.
- Data Center disaster recovery coordinator for server hardware replacement with vendors and 3M staff.
- Configuration of cabling for server deployments and operating system configuration
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of four (4) years of IT experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience working on the physical infrastructure in a Data Center/Computer Room including supporting network Layer 0 infrastructure in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
- Proficiency with JIRA & Lean/Agile tools and methodology
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

The expected compensation range for this position is $91,279 - $111,564, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
