Customer Service Representative - Stony Brook CPMP Patient Accounts
Location: East Setauket, NY; At the manager’s discretion, this role may be eligible for remote work; this position is only available to New York State Residents.
Schedule: Full time
Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM
SUMMARY: The incumbent under general supervision and according to established policies &procedures is responsible for accurately and efficiently answering and scheduling patient appointments. Requires a high-level problem solving and analytical skills with the highest ethical standards. The incumbent must be self-directed and self-motivated and able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high level of productivity and accuracy.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
- Review various EMRs to review notes, insurance and form folders to assist in resolving patient inquiries.
- Conduct insurance verification.
- Handle high volume of patient telephone calls.
- Provide Customer Service to patients.
- Demonstrate courteous and professional behavior when dealing with patients.
- Document and take appropriate action for all telephone calls in billing system.
- Resolve patient inquiries or escalate for solution.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of Customer Service/call center experience. In lieu of this requirement, will accept two years of medical billing related experience or graduation from a medical billing program.
- Must have excellent expressive and written communication skills
- Must be highly organized
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Heavy telephone experience.
- Computer literate with knowledge of medical insurance policies, reimbursement and medical terminology.
- Experience with insurance websites.
