Customer Service Representative

The Customer Service Representativeis responsiblefor assisting in building and maintaining the customer relationships that are the foundation of Ashley HomeStore’s retail sales success. The incumbent performs sales order entry and payment processing, undertakes store administration functions, and provides clerical support to store accounting functions.

The Customer Service Representativeis accountablefor supporting retail office administrative operations that help the HomeStore achieve high levels of Customer Service, productivity and profitability.

Overall, the Customer Service Representative contributes to the Ashley high performance culture by modeling our core values and engaging in sales activities that keep the Ashley brand as the #1 home furnishings market leader in style, selection, quality and value.

Primary Job Functions

· Ensures guests are always treated in a cordial, respectful manner, representing the Ashley brand image. Maintains a visible presence at the front desk and personally interacts with customers.

· Handles customer inquiries regarding sales, billing and delivery. Resolves customer issues in a professional, helpful way. Schedules product deliveries when needed.

· Processes sales orders accurately and efficiently. Follows cash handling procedures. Handles customer credit application processing and financing arrangements. Maintains sales transaction documentation.

· Provides clerical support for store administration and accounting functions. Handles telephone traffic and routes calls using professional paging methods. Assists in the completion of daily sales and other store reports.

· Assists with store opening and closing procedures, including cash balancing and daily checklists.

· Assists with inventory and loss prevention processes. Participates in the bi-annual inventory process.

· Participates actively in meetings and coaching sessions with managers and trainers.

· Develops high levels of knowledge on all Ashley products, promotions and store functions.

· Demonstrates the company’s core and growth values in performance of all job functions.

Secondary Job Functions

· Learns the furniture retail industry as a whole to establish a strong understanding of Ashley’s products and their positioning in the marketplace, as well as the processes and procedures in how the business is operated.

· Picks up projects on the fly; performs other duties as assigned from time to time.

Schedule Expectations

1. The incumbent will work a minimum of 40 hours per week, which includes weekends, holidays and evenings. Hours will increase during specific events, holidays or blackout periods, or to meet other business needs.

2. Regular attendance at the assigned store in accordance with these expectations is an essential function of the job and all job functions are performed at the designated job location.

Job Qualifications

Education:

· High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.

Experience:

· Previous experience in office administration or Customer Service experience preferred; preferably in furniture retail.

Licenses or Certifications:

None

Knowledge, Skills:

· Basic knowledge of retail or business.

· Basic knowledge of retail Customer Service and/or sales.

· Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.

· Exceptional detail-oriented, time management and organizational skills, with ability to multitask and meet demanding deadlines.

· Strong math aptitude and typing skills.

· Good oral communication and listening skills.

· Good computer and office software skills, including Microsoft Office.
