Job Title: Service Manager FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Job Purpose Summary

Responsible and accountable for supervising and supporting all Front-End Staff, including FOH Leads, Cashiers, and Courtesy Clerks in order to assure a productive and profitable store, including Guest satisfaction, Team Member efficiency, safety, and security. A working knowledge of all Departments with an eye for detail. In the absence of the Store Director, will be responsible for ensuring all Departments are running smoothly.

Essential Job Duties

  • Interacts with Guests, Team Members, and Management. Maintains store cleanliness, resolves Guest complaints, and ensures Guest service according to Vintage Grocers standards. Supervises Team Members throughout the store as required.

  • Opens and/or closes store according to Vintage Grocers standards. Supervises Front End Team Members as required by ensuring Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks are fully trained. Supervises Team Member performance during their shift to include exceptional guest services, knowledge of policies & procedures, as well as upcoming promotions Provides performance feedback to the Store Director.

  • Writes effective weekly work schedule and monitors coverage.

  • Completes financial paperwork, cash transactions, and transfers accurately on a daily basis.

  • Conduct Audits on cash drawers and manager’s drawer throughout the day.

  • Provides necessary ongoing training of Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks and ensures they understand all policies, procedures, i.e.: PLU’s, refunds, Gift Card issuance, promotions, coupon handling, cash back policy, etc.

  • Responsible for initial and ongoing training and performance of cashiers and courtesy clerks

  • Participates in development of self by attending ongoing classroom and online training.

Non-Essential Job Duties

May perform similar and incidental duties as required by Management.

Job Qualifications

Education: High School degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Cash handling, previous leadership role, preferably in retail.

Knowledge: Knowledge of aspects of the grocery industry. Basic computer skills including e-mail and Microsoft Word.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, clearly communicating operational concerns with Management and co-workers.

Math Skills: Overall skills and knowledge of financial principles and practices. Ability to perform basic computations to complete financial paperwork.

Other: Individual must have reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance is required (if individual will be required to drive on behalf of Vintage Grocers.) Individual must have reliable transportation to arrive to work on time.

Other Abilities: Ability to maintain a high level of patience with others. Requires working closely with co-workers for long periods of time. Ability to provide organizational leadership and foster a team environment. Ability to handle multiple priorities.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Store Director.
