JOB SUMMARY:
Mid-Ohio Food Collective (MOFC) is looking for a Customer Outreach Specialist to support the work of the Benefits and Customer Outreach team. This roll will be responsible for working directly with customers who call, email or otherwise contact MOFC through referral services. In addition, the Specialist will assist other team members with the completion of applications, compiling data for reports, data entry, and managing appointments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact with customers over the phone to educate on benefits and assist them with food resources.
- Complete applications over the phone, including SNAP applications and documentation submission by using Ohio Benefits Self Service Portal.
- Inform clients of next steps and protocol, and keep them informed throughout the process.
- Collect, maintain, and report accurate outreach and client data.
- Oversee handling of client personal documents and ensure confidentiality of information. Assure all personal information collected and reviewed through the Outreach process is handled in accordance with privacy statements and policies.
- Ensure appropriate communication between the Outreach Coordinators and those expressing interest in benefits, referrals, and community resources.
- Provide clerical and administrative support across the department.
- Distribute outreach materials to community organizations and social groups via email and texting.
- Support data collection and reporting by following up with application status of customers
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certifications: Must have a High School Diploma/GED and valid Driver's License.
Experience: At least five plus years of customer service experience required, preferably in telephone, on-line and in-person environments. Knowledge of and experience in public benefits and/or community resources, specifically within non-profit or social services preferred.
Skills/Competencies: Ability to interact with challenging personalities. Ability to listen, empathize, and strategize while maintaining healthy boundaries. Candidates must represent Mid-Ohio Food Collective with professionalism when interacting with clients, volunteers, community members and Food Collective staff. Proficient in basic computer knowledge and Microsoft applications. Dual language a plus.
