SalarySummary Statement:
Dentists are doctors who specialize in oral health. Dentists' areas of care include not only their patients' teeth and gums but also the muscles of the head, neck and jaw, the tongue, salivary glands, the nervous system of the head and neck and other areas. In addition, dentists can spot early warning signs in the mouth that may indicate disease elsewhere in the body. Dentists' training also enables them to recognize situations that warrant referring patients for care by dental specialists or physicians.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversight of the clinical team.
· Diagnosing oral diseases.
· Promoting oral health and disease prevention.
· Creating treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of their patients.
· Interpreting x-rays and diagnostic tests.
· Ensuring the safe administration of anesthetics.
· Monitoring growth and development of the teeth and jaws.
· Performing surgical procedures on the teeth, bone and soft tissues of the oral cavity.
· Ensures the proper and timely documentation of dental health records for clinical work and accurate billing.
· Provides direct patient care with dignity, respect, and in a culturally competent manner
· Maintains confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information.
· Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
· Graduation from an American Dental Association (ADA) approved dental school with DDS or DMD degree.
· Current, valid, and unrestricted California Dental License.
· Must possess current DEA license and CPR certification (BCLS).
· Must be able to interact with people of various socioeconomic statuses and have the ability to address sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
· Ability to utilize an electronic dental record.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
· Ability to work independently and/or in a team collaborative setting.
· Excellent customer service, leadership and motivational skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Bilingual English/Spanish and or Arabic is preferred.
· Travel is required between health centers and to attend meetings.
