ROLE OVERVIEW
TheCustomer Data Governance Specialist ensures successful execution of Customer Data management process across business areas through the implementation of data management activities and solutions while working in partnership with internal and external functions.
TheCustomer Data Governance Specialist will ensure Customer Data is collected, recorded and maintained accurately, and made available to satisfy the needs of the business. This position proactively identifies data management solutions based on existing Data Governance framework and business strategies to improve data management at source, transformation and consumption points.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
Creates and approves new customer accounts and maintains existing accounts through use of the Master Data Governance (MDG) tool, ensuring that address attributes, GLN numbers, Territory Alignment, and Tax IDs are set up
appropriately.
Maintain and ensure accuracy and compliance of all Customer Master Data to support the Order Management process and Sales Analysis reporting of the affiliate/market.
Works with business partners to solve for new data concepts and metadata problems through root cause analysis techniques, proactively.
Enforces Data Governance through validation of compliance to data standards and data usage to ensure consistent data transformation practices.
Ensures harmonization of Data Governance framework vs. practices as well as consistent usage of tools across the business. Works closely with IT lead to develop and evolve data management capabilities.
Perform periodic, ongoing review of existing Customer data to identify cleansing requirements, communicating any changes to the individuals and processes which may be impacted. Perform cleansing requirements to the Customer
Master Data as needed.
Maintaining, releasing and controlling of customer master data.
Perform a review and analysis of all Customer Data maintenance requests to ensure information is complete and is in compliance with established customer Data Quality Standards; confirm proper authorizations have been provided.
Ensure no duplicate customers are created by reviewing all new requests and comparing to existing customers prior to creating any new customer; extending existing customers as applicable. This applies to all types of customers
(i.e. Sold-to, Ship-to, Business Partner, etc.).
Investigate and understand root causes of Customer Data quality issues for recommending enhancements and improvements to the process and data structure.
Consulting on the drafting and implementation of new processes relating to customer master data management.
Creates ad hoc reports and analysis from the internal and external functions as needed.
Participate in the design of short term and long term data solutions that meet and/or exceed business expectations to ensure that all solutions are in compliance with Data Governance.
Continuously develops and implements Customer Data quality rules, procedures and policies.
Responsible for the implementation of changes to the MDG tool and business processes required to support data quality rules.
Develop and manage the governance and other process workflows for customer master maintenance.
Understand, adhere to, and monitor all service level agreements and accuracy ratios for creating and updating customer master data records.
Establish an effective working relationship with Sales, Tax, A/R and Customer Support to ensure Customer Master Data follows Data Standard guidelines; Specialist is empowered to advise and educate those groups as needed to promote understanding and compliance with correct data definitions, and to reject requests that do not meet these requirements
Hold training sessions for users on an as needed basis.
Communicate concerns, issues, and problems with Customer Master Data or procedures to the manager, for awareness, escalation, and resolution.
REQUIREMENTS
Our successful candidate will have excellent written and spoken English language business communication skills. They will also have demonstrated success working in a collaborative, service-oriented team environment.
Additional requirements include, but are not limited to:
A minimum education Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college
5+ years data related experience E.g.: Data Analytics, Data Mining and/or Data Governance experience required/ Experience working with master data and SAP MM applications
Strong attention to detail, testing to identify defects, and ability to drive remediation
Time management; Ability to work well under deadlines, ability to work in a multi-tasking production environment to make good judgments about competing priorities
Analytical proficiency. With limited direction, ability to analyze complex business problems and provide clear guidance, implications and recommendations. An independent systematic and results oriented approach
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office applications
Flexibility, high quality standards and strong sense of responsibility
Strong hands-on technical knowledge of master data concepts, processes, organizational support models and tools is preferred. This should include but is not limited to Data Profiling, Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Modeling, and Data Integration
Knowledge of Data Governance and Master Data Management best practices is required.
