JOB SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in the maintenance of school classrooms, restrooms, hallways and other related facilities. Assists with maintenance and repair work during vacation periods, including painting, refinishing floors, and making minor repairs to fixtures and furniture. These duties may be performed during day or swing shift hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred and two years of successful custodial experience or
relevant demonstrated proficiency in custodial duties
Working knowledge/training in modern cleaning methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment
Ability to satisfactorily perform work independently with a minimum of written or oral instructions. Ability to work non-regular hours as necessary
Upon employment, employees will complete training in Material Safety Data Sheets, asbestos, and bloodborne pathogens.
Knowledge of OR-OSHA requirements that apply to assigned duties
Ability to satisfactorily perform all physical requirements of assigned tasks
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff members, students, and the general public
Possess valid Oregon driver's license
Ability to acquire First Aid/CPR card
Fingerprint-based Criminal Background check will be required at employee's expense upon offer of employment.
Upon pre-employment offer, candidate will be sent in for a physical and drug screen, at District expense. District employment contingent upon results.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
An employee in this classification may perform any of the following duties. However, these examples do not include all the specific tasks which an employee may be expected to perform.
- Works from a prepared work schedule; sweeps, scrubs, waxes and polishes concrete, vinyl, tile, and wood floors; vacuums carpets.
- Disinfecting sanitizing according to disstrict protocols.
- Cleans and dust, walls, furniture, woodwork, and other equipment.
- Washes, scrubs and disinfects restrooms; cleans windows, door glass, and drinking fountains and high touched surface areas.
- Empties and cleans wastebaskets and picks up paper and other refuse in hallways, entrances, and grounds.
- Arranges chairs, tables, desks, furniture, and other equipment to facilitate cleaning activities and for special room arrangement and event requirements. Includes transportation of chair racks and equipment between schools and buildings for large events.
- Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent lamps and makes minor plumbing repairs, such as replacing washers or flush valves.
- Unlocks and locks doors and windows as required for security and room access; maintains equipment used in the course of work; reports safety, sanitary or fire hazards observed during the course of regular duties.
- Assists in the complete cleaning and routine maintenance of buildings during summer vacation periods. Strips and waxes floors, shampoos carpets, re-caulks windows, paint walls, refinishes gym floors, replace floor tiles, ceiling tiles and moldings, and performs other cleaning tasks.
- Restocks custodial supplies.
- Provides security and supervision during evening building use activities, including opening doors, directing public, parking lot security during special events, supervising students enforcing safety and security rules, and assisting parents and children in securing rides home.
- May substitute for day custodian as needed; required flexibility in schedule with minimal hours between swing and day shifts.
- Responds to building alarms in emergencies. Responds to emergency or weather situations during off time.
- Communicates and coordinates with inspectors, repair persons, and evening school representatives.
- Performs laundry duties, including; towels from all kitchens, dust mops and cleaning rags, nurse's room bedding, sports uniforms as requested, mechanic's coveralls and rags.
- Monitors restrooms for smokers, vandalism, and graffiti.
- Maintains grounds perimeter and conducts clean up, weeding, and trimming.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequently and continuously walk
- Frequent Trunk Flexion 0-45 degrees.
- Frequently Reach Forward.
- Frequently Twist.
- Frequently Power Grip
- Frequently Push/Pull 0-10 lbs, & 11-50 lbs and Balance.
- The ability to wear a mask, gloves or other PPE required during the work day.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Up to 260 daysdays at 4 hours per day. Member of the Classified Union. Salary and placement will be in accordance with the current Classified Union's salary schedule at Grade G. Benefits are available for this position.
