Custodial Supervisor - Hiring Immediately!
Pay: $19.00-$21.00/hour (Based on experience) – Paid Weekly
Schedule: 5:30pm-2:00am Monday through Friday
EG Managed Services is currently seeking a skilled Custodial Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Grand Rapids, MI. This individual would lead, manage, and work with a team of supervisors and custodians working in administrative, industrial, and other operational areas. Top focus would be assuring that facilities are cleaned and maintained in compliance with customer requirements, sanitation regulations, within the parameters of the EGMS service delivery model and values.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Assure teams have what they need to be successful
    1. Assure the availability and safe correct use of supplies, chemicals, tools, and equipment in the completion of work to the agreed upon standard
  • Assure all work is safely completed to standard
    1. Assist Operations Manager in filling assignments & assuring their assigned work areas are cleaned to standard
    2. Takes special care to personally assure the satisfactory and timely completion of corrective action, special requests, high profile work, and other projects and activities. This includes walkthroughs to assure work is completed to standard
    3. Actively participate in the work audit process, fully completing audits on-time
    4. Act as an Area Supervisor and perform cleaning projects & custodial duties as required
  • Be an exemplar in teamwork and communication
    1. Demonstrates team leadership & positive, effective communication skills, acting as a mentor, coach, and contact & communications conduit to supervisors and staff
    2. Takes a leadership role in being a positive, cooperative, & supportive in communicating and working with the EG team, building residents and customer facilities staff
    3. Act as the first contact point and resolution advocate for customer questions, special requests, concerns, and complaints
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is highly desired
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of related experience, with significant successful industry experience for the area they will manage (building maintenance, custodial services, and floor care)
  • Meets all the requirements and is proficient to fulfill the duties of any team members
  • Understanding and ability to perform general custodial duties
  • Ability to work with computers, simple machinery, and cleaning equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and direct the work of supervisory and custodial staff
  • Must be a strong team-player and coach, cooperatively working all members of the team
  • Demonstrated ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while working within established parameters
  • Ability to communicate well and relate positively with customer facility staff & building residents
  • Meets the requirements to drive a company vehicle
  • Ability to run a floor scrubber and knowledgeable in carpet extraction
Physical Requirements:
  • Long periods of standing and walking
  • Repetitive reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling
  • Long periods of repetitive arm, hand, and finger use
  • Constant gripping and grasping
  • Frequent lifting, including overhead lifting, up to 30 pounds
  • Pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Must be able to safely work with chemical agents and soaps
  • Non-latex gloves, slip resistant shoes must be worn. Safety glasses and hearing protection required in production areas
  • May be exposed to unsanitary conditions, unpleasant odors, and biohazard substances
  • Ability to work in outdoor elements, such as heat or cold (moving between buildings/ locations)
Additional Notes:
  • Coaches and works with all employees in a fair and equitable manner
  • Appropriately escalates Human Resources issues to Operations Manager in a timely manner
  • Escalates service performance and other customer issues to Operations Manager as appropriate and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the training of staff as required
  • Submit work orders to the maintenance and escalating emergency work orders ASAP
  • Assures the timely satisfactory completion of required work communication and documentation
  • Assures the appropriate use, care and maintenance of supplies and equipment
  • Take an active role as a team member in the design & operations of cleaning process & procedures
  • Advise on the selection and use of equipment, supplies, and services
  • Check email, voicemail, and work orders at the beginning of each shift & on a regular basis each day
  • Takes a leadership role for shift responsibilities
  • Participates in bio-hazard clean-up, daily cleaning, floor care & other project activities as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Operation Manager as this reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.
  • Management may assign or reassign shift times, duties, and responsibilities to this job at any time due to changing company needs or other reasons with reasonable notice
Shift Specific Activities & Projects:
  • Crossover communication with between shifts
  • Check and plan for absences, projects, and special coverage situations
  • Conduct beginning and end of shift huddles; communicate all necessary information to the cleaners
  • Walk the complex touching all areas as it is possible; assist staff as they need it
  • Work Orders; Daily Logs, email, and other paperwork
  • Responsible for the care of the vehicles, including filling out the vehicle log
  • Submit supply orders to manager
  • Manage window cleaning
  • Motorized equipment Trainer
  • Quality Walks
  • Assist with bio-hazard clean-up, cleaning & floor care when needed
