Versar, Inc., a global project management company based out of Washington, D.C. with 23 locations around the world, is currently accepting resumes for a Cultural Resources Archaeological Monitor in support of anticipated projects in far west Texas. Additional projects will be assigned as needed and may include projects in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. This is a position out of our El Paso, Texas office.

Position Summary
This is a temporary position with an anticipated start of fall 2023 and extending 24 months, with intermittent down time. It is anticipated that downtime may be filled with other regional project assignments. The position is for a cultural resource monitor. The monitor will be responsible for inspecting ground disturbing activities, ensuring erosion control plans are properly implemented, removing/inspecting soils as needed, keeping daily logs and field notes, participation in weekly status meetings, and providing general administrative support as assigned. The position is a conditional hire pending contract award. In addition, this position has the potential to lead to full-time employment.
Requirements
Qualifications include an M.A. degree in Anthropology or Environmental Services and a minimum of 3 years of field supervisory experience. The candidate must be able to demonstrate monitoring experience and ability to work independently. The preferred candidate will have an understanding of federal and state laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines governing Cultural Resources. Experience with managing archaeology projects in the Southwest is required. GPS proficiency and adaptability to technological tools is mandatory.
Additional qualifications specific to this position:
- Collecting field data using Trimble GPS units, data dictionaries, and recording site attributes using pull down menus,
- Possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation,
- Candidate must be physically capable of carrying out the monitoring services in all weather and all environments, from very cold to very hot,
- Experience in recognizing both historic and prehistoric archaeological materials and performing limited archaeological excavation,
- Successful candidate will be required to reside in El Paso or in the adjacent communities,
- Good communication skills,
- Must be capable of working 8 or 10 hour days (schedule may vary)
