As the leading creative voice within the Comfort Research marketing team, the Creative Director is responsible for ideating and executing all creative marketing components of the Big Joe consumer experience. S/he will lead a small, agile team to concept ideas that capture attention, build memories around our brand and products, and drive action from the consumer. The Creative Director will work to establish a cohesive brand meaning that lives beyond individual marketing executions. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the entire creative process, and be highly adept at managing multiple projects with tight budgets and deadlines as both a thinker and doer.


HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Demonstrate the Core Values of Comfort Research in daily actions, execution of tasks and interactions with others.
  • Lead the creative team by defining structure, process, and tools to lift quality and accelerate volume of creative output.
  • Collaborate with fellow marketing and sales leadership to architect connected experiences that map across the entire consumer journey.
  • Establish and oversee creative operations including defining and administering prioritization of workflow and creative resourcing.
  • Ensure consistent art direction and design by establishing clear guidelines and expectations around brand and creative quality.
  • Evolve creative briefing process to distill audience understanding into ownable human insight to bring the Big Joe brand to life in a way that drives irrational response and builds long-term sustainable advantage.
  • Collaborate with product development leadership to help ensure new products are sellable, reach new audiences, and drive new consumer behavior.
  • Act as the effective leader of an in-house agency enforcing creative job requesting requirements, clearly setting delivery expectations and maintaining open communication across functions.
  • Own the creative department annual budget including all internal and external design and production resourcing.
  • Source and manage freelance creative talent for new ideas and/or periods of surging workload.
  • Support Marketing team in shared goals and initiatives.
  • Manage performance of direct reports including goal setting, performance evaluations, and professional development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in hands-on creative design, development, and production across multiple consumer brands.
  • 3+ years experience leading creative across at least one major consumer brand, including supervisory experience managing a team.
  • Client-side experience at internal agency preferred. 
  • Understands the need to integrate both performance and brand in marketing executions.
  • Digital native equally adept at providing direction on SEM headlines (i.e., DR copy) as concepting a video ad for Instagram (prospecting video).
  • Extensive experience in both design and video editing software (Adobe: Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro).
  • Demonstrated skills in talent management, budget management, project management, and digital asset management.
  • Moderate experience in design of POS materials and packaging.
