The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Court Support Specialist in the Municipal Court. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under general supervision, performs specialized clerical work and courtroom duties of routine difficulty in support of the Municipal Court; and performs related duties as assigned.
Henderson Municipal Court is seeking a highly engaged individual with general clerical experience-preferably from a criminal justice agency. The ideal candidate will have a good attitude, be collaborative, actively contribute to a positive team environment, and be comfortable with a rapidly changing environment. The Court seeks an individual that is comfortable interacting with court users in the courtrooms or in a customer service capacity.
** NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
- Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
- Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- Three (3) years of full-time experience performing responsible clerical duties involving contact with the public and providing extensive customer service
- Proficiency in keyboarding sufficient to type 45 net words per minute
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- Desirable: Two (2) years of full-time clerical experience in a legal setting or criminal justice agency
- Desirable: College coursework in criminal justice
- Desirable: Bilingual proficiency in verbal and written communications

Preliminary Typing Test* (Pass/Fail) - Virtual Typing Test - Test invites will be sent out on Thursday, April 4, 2024
Written Examination + Typing Test* (Weighted 50%) - Those invited will receive test invites on Wednesday, April 17, 2024

*Candidates will be required to pass the typing portion of the written examination based on the number of net words per minute (WPM) listed in the minimum qualifications. There are free practice typing tests online if you would like to gauge your speed and practice prior to the assessment date. However, you must pass the test we administer, and we will utilize the score you receive from our exam.Candidates must pass both the Preliminary Typing Test and the subsequent typing test in order to move forward in the recruitment process.
