Position Summary
A career in Corrosion Control will provide the opportunity to inspect, maintain and operate cathodic protection systems to protect steel pipelines from corrosion.

Roles within Corrosion Control are responsible for all fieldwork relating to design, installation, and maintenance of cathodic protection systems. This includes, monitoring the Company’s cathodic protection system in a timely manner, identifying, and troubleshooting issues, and recommending remediation. This role will provide technical expertise and guidance to Operations and Engineering for the design, implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the company’s corrosion control/cathodic protection systems.

This role will also be responsible for maintaining advanced qualifications and demonstrating proficiency in various subjects and tasks, such as corrosion control and integrity management regulations, external/internal/atmospheric corrosion monitoring and mitigation procedures and processes, assessment and repair of pipeline defects, technical support, training and qualification/evaluation of corrosion technicians, design of cathodic protection systems, working knowledge of corrosion control databases and field data collection devices, corrosion and pipeline data management and integration, and specifications for contract corrosion control services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for monitoring the Company’s cathodic protection system in a timely manner.

• Ensure quality of readings performed by others and manage contractor resources.

• Responsible for troubleshooting issues identified during monitoring, recommending remediation, and following through to completion.

• Ensuring compliance with federal and state code regulations, and standards related to cathodic protection.

• Maintain and update corrosion control schematics and mapping

• Troubleshoot and maintain rectifiers.

• Calibrate half-cells in accordance with procedures and maintain electrical testing equipment such as multimeters.

• Responsible for design of minor cathodic protection systems.

• Working within standard operating procedures and managing compliance deadlines.

Qualifications
Required Background

• High School Diploma or GED

• Requires 5 years of related experience or more

Required Skills:

This role will require broadened technical skills in analytical/ scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. The following qualifications and skills are required:

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to read and understand codes, standards, and procedures.

• Mathematics aptitude – intermediate proficiency

• Problem solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work successfully in a team environment.

• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, work management systems, and GIS.

Preferred Skills:

• AMPP (NACE) CP1 (or above) Certification is preferred.

• Additional AMPP or other industry certifications preferred.

• Pipeline, plumbing, or electrical experience preferred.

• A technical or associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is a plus.
