The primary purpose of this role is to support all group priorities, including advising, developing, and implementing strategies on environmental, social, and governance matters ("ESG") and related new initiatives across the business divisions. At the direction of the Executive Management Team, Federal Signal’s focus is to operate sustainably and with a long-term, fact-based view on issues regarding the environment, society, and corporate governance, and positively impact the Company's employees, customers, partners, and stakeholders at large. The primary function of the role will include the production and publication of the Annual Sustainability Report, an ongoing focus of identifying areas of improvement for ESG scoring at ratings agencies, working with the business units to develop action plans to reduce our carbon footprint where appropriate, as well as special projects and supporting corporate initiatives. The candidate supports the Director of Sustainability and Investor Relations and will work with all business units and corporate functions.
Key Activities/Responsibilities
- Primary focus includes working on the Sustainability report, coordinating data and creating content both internally and externally into a shareholder friendly report
- Coordinate publishing and production of fourth annual Sustainability Report
- Research and analyze industrial comparative company disclosures and best practices to incorporate into our ESG effort
- Work in conjunction with Investor Relations to improve ISS and other proxy advisory scores reflecting the importance to the equity world of the impact investing asset class
- Analyze, identify and recommend areas for change/improvement
- Research and stay abreast of ESG-related regulatory scores
- Research activist investor trends and outcomes with respect to ESG topics (i.e., Exxon Mobil), including climate and DEI
- Work with the Dealer Development team and the Brand Ambassador Program – working with the 2022/2023 Social Responsibility measures for the Dealer composite to enable a competitive advantage for winning new business and attracting talent
- Will work on building customized social responsibility policies for the Dealers focusing on DEI, environmental systems policy, recycling and disposal policy; social and environmental accreditations
- Travel expectations up to 25% of the time

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred
- 1-2 years of analytical experience preferred; alternatively, candidate must show strong track record in previous analytical / business roles (marketing, sales, accounting, finance)

- Critical thinking and drive to understand the unique set of issues, dynamics each project involves
- Foundational level skills in finance, forecasting and related analysis including modeling and problem-solving skills
