Our Community Affairs & Engagement team is seeking a Senior Coordinator!
The Senior Coordinator, Community Engagement Programs position works closely with interdepartmental staff to coordinate and support TriMet's Advisory Committees. This role acts in a developing and supporting capacity, as well as leading the recruitment and onboarding of new members.
The Senior Coordinator works to enhance Community Engagement efforts with underrepresented communities on a wide-range of projects, and initiatives, as well as general system and services. They work across agency divisions to leverage capacity and opportunities, in support of TriMet's Community Engagement strategy, to ensure agency efforts are effective, authentic, and meaningful. This position will support ongoing program development, coordinate community and stakeholder engagement, and will work improve agency efforts to strengthen and expand relationships with key community stakeholders, with a focus on transit dependent populations.
This position requires a minimum of two (2) days per week in-person.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers' experiences and of TriMet's product and service offerings.


1. Support the continual development and implementation of TriMet's Community Engagement efforts with a focus on transit dependent riders, vulnerable populations, and historically underrepresented communities. Choose appropriate engagement strategies and communications to respond to diverse communities, including people with limited English.
2. Identify, establish, strengthen and maintain key relationships with communities across the Tri-County service area, including centers-of-influence, select community organizations, school districts, high schools, community colleges, universities, and unrepresented and vulnerable rider and potential rider groups.
3. Participate in the strategic design and implementation of multi-phase public engagement processes and activities that allow the public to shape plans, policies, and programs that affect them - including feedback gathering activities such as public meetings, surveys, advisory and working groups, focus groups, and partnership with community-based organizations.
4. Represent TriMet at public meetings and outreach events; act as liaison with specific communities to provide information and education about transportation projects, to articulate departmental perspectives on relevant issues, and to listen to concerns and help resolve problems.
5. Research community issues related to transit and develop and disseminate content, communication, and outreach materials; coordinate and participate in focused and broad public information campaigns in conjunction with internal outreach and public affairs staff, program contractors and partner agencies to foster and strengthen community partnerships with organizations that serve minority and low income communities.
6. Support the development and participate in the delivery of presentations and/or orientations to internal and external customer audiences; including Advisory Committees, representatives from other jurisdictions or other transit systems, community groups and social service agencies, and members of the public.
7. Maintain community partnership tracking and planning functions through a Customer Relations Management (CRM) database. Maintain CRM tracking systems and processes that enable others to use and adapt outreach materials in convenient and timely manner; effectively track outreach appearances and projects more ongoing basis, produce and prepare outreach metrics and reports as needed.
8. Serve as the primary support and coordinator of ten committees within TriMet. Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process of new committee members, and continuously work with the various groups on process improvements - in addition to facilitating monthly meetings.A Bachelor's Degree is required.
A Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Administration, Education, Public Affairs or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years of total credited experience.*
Two (2) years of experience overseeing Community Engagement Programs and initiatives, with a special emphasis on programs that focus on low income and historically underrepresented populations, are required.
Two (2) years of experience in directly designing and implementing successful Community Engagement strategies across the Portland Metro region are required.
Bilingual speaking/writing skills are preferred.
Or any equivalent combination of training or experience.
*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".Type of Position / Grade / FLSA

Salary Range
Minimum: $75,186.00
Maximum: $112,779.00

Salary offers will be determined by a candidate's education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet's salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
