Communications CoordinatorOverview of Job:This role leads several communications functions and assists the communication department in implementing internal and external communication strategies. The communications team works very closely with the development team. The Communications Coordinator plays an active role in aiding fundraising by maintaining the organization’s email audience through. Success Criteria & Essential Duties:
- The role requires exceptional customer service as the person will be working with a diverse range of supporters, employees and, volunteers. This position will collaborate with staff and key supporters to gather content and address concerns;
- With a base understanding of and interest in marketing/advertising and consumer behavior, this position will collaborate with the communication and development team on design, copy and messaging; ensuring on-brand messaging;
- Assist with the collection of content to aid social media, website, email and video efforts;
- Aid the Communications and Human Resources departments by curating content and increasing participation on internal platforms;
- Strong verbal communication and flexibility to assist the communications director with both planned and unplanned media relations opportunities as well as incoming calls;
- Using excellent written communication, create written communication for local publications that promote the organizations programs, services and adoptable animals;
- Strong attention to detail to oversee the maintenance of the organization’s email audience and tags
- The role requires exceptional customer service as the person will be working with a diverse range of customers, employees and, volunteers to oversee the adoptable photos and biography program

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in Marketing and communication concepts
- Experience in Mail Chimp preferred but not required
Minimum Qualifications, Skills or Knowledge:
- Must be able to pass criminal background check, pre-employment substance screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds; push and pull heavy objects; bend, twist, reach; perform strenuous physical activities including frequent walking and running, standing, bending and stooping.
- Should not be allergic to animals or nut products; must be able and willing to work around all animals.
- This position is considered “Core” in emergencies and/or disaster situations.
Working Conditions
- Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches.
- Works in an area with a high noise level.
- Position has the ability to work remotely 1-2 days per week.
