Qualifications:
Master's degree and/or valid Texas Mid-Management Certification (Preferred)
Bachelor's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
Minimum of five years successful varsity experience in 4A/5A/6A programs with head coach experience (Preferred)
Shows evidence of a strong football background in all areas
Exhibits an excellent background /knowledge of all UIL rules and regulations
Exhibits an excellent background in all sports offered by the UIL
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and clearly with students, staff, and community
Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the athletic programs at the junior high and High School Campus level. Provide leadership in the development of all Campus Athletic programs grades 7-12. Assist and direct the athletic staff to ensure the compliance with all district and state athletic policies and regulations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and administer the Campus High School Athletic Program in accordance with KISD and UIL athletic objectives and policy.
- Managing Campus Athletic budget. All High School athletic purchases must be routed to the Athletic Financial Secretary and approved by the Executive Director of Athletics.
- Make all High School coaching assignments with approval of the Executive Director of Athletics and Principal.
- Coordinate all campus level athletic schedules.
- Demonstrates support for every UIL program on the campus.
- Maintain a complete and accurate High School athletic equipment inventory.
- Submit all necessary requests as per KISD Athletic Administration.
- Develop and monitor junior High School implementation of philosophies, schemes, strategies, techniques, skills, offenses and defenses as stressed by the High School Head Coach.
- Manage all campus-based Athletic Booster Clubs.
- Interview candidates for Campus Athletic positions and make recommendations to the Principal/Executive Director of Athletics.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of all campus-based programs and coaches.
- Possess and demonstrate the ability of effective communication with students, staff, faculty and community at all times.
- Understand and effectively communicate the process of all areas of the National Clearinghouse as defined by the NCAA to athletes and parents as it pertains to all types of grant-in-aid programs.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of all UIL rules and regulations.
- Complete annually a total sports program budget and end-of-year review of all sports programs.
- Assist all other coaches in the planning and management of their programs as needed.
- Assist with the management of all UIL competitive activities that occur at the home campus as well as additional tournaments/meets held within the district.
- Develop a program to ensure that all phases of UIL compliance are adequately addressed each year with athletes, staff, parents, faculty and community.
- Complete an annual evaluation of all coaches assigned to that campus's sports programs.
- Assist the central athletic office with annual reviews and recommendations of all interscholastic competitive programs provided by the district.
- Coordinate and schedule all necessary event supervisors and game support staff for all campus-based athletic activities.
- Serve on committees applicable to position.
