General Description / Primary Purpose:The Coordinator Accounting, under the direction of an Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs. Recommends policies and procedures to ensure effective coordination of departmental programs.
Job Function:This position is responsible to the Associate/Assistant Controller for planning, organizing and controlling activities of the accounting section. The position assists in ensuring that the University accounting records are kept in accordance with Federal, State and other governing regulations (GAAP and GASB). This position will assist in the preparation of the University’s annual financial statements for the university and other areas that need assistance with periodic reporting. This position will take the lead in the preparation of various State required reporting for accountability and transparency. This position will work the ORSP in data needed for the F&A proposal with DHHS and other external agencies. This position will work with the Associate/Assistant Controller and University Controller in achieving the objectives and goals of the Controller’s office with design and implementation of accounting internal controls, systems and procedures and dissemination this information to the office and the campus community. This position will be responsible for the accounting for the $380 million dollars of University fixed assets. This position will be responsible for various reconciliations of the GL from subsidiary ledgers, UNF shadow systems and external agency recons. This position assists with major construction fiscal activities. This position provides a variety of other management reports and must have a broad range of accounting and management experience and knowledge. This position will attend meetings and act in place of the Assistant/Associate Controller in his/her absence. This position will serve on various University committees to represent the interest of the Controller’s office. This position will assist in determining compliance training needs and developing training materials in regards to rule and regulations. This position will work with Associate/Assistant Controller and the University Controller on detection of irregular transactions and internal control evaluations.
Marginal Functions:Responds to University community’s requests for assistance with problems and questions related to accounting.
Required Qualifications:This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.

Departmental Requirements:CPA preferred. Extensive planning, innovation, formulation and implementation of accounting techniques and administrative processes to establish and maintain controls while motivating employees to provide superior customer service. Demonstrate ability to communicate with staff and with the campus constituencies as a whole. Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure. Highly ethical. Basic English-Language writing skills for completion of various paperwork tasks.
