Controls Engineer - Electrified Powertrain
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop controls software and advanced controls strategies for vehicle propulsion systems, including optimization and application-specific designs
- Define system and functional level requirements including component interfaces
- Develop plant models for electric vehicle powertrain components and systems
- Verify and validate algorithms
- Lead the development of prototype and production solutions
- Conduct MiL, SiL, HiL testing to validate the control functions
- Drive the use of proper automotive standards
- Lead projects and interface with customers
- Keep abreast of technology advancements around electronic controls
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or related field required
- 3+ years of experience in hybrid/electric vehicle controls software development
- Strong understanding of hybrid and electric vehicle powertrain system architecture
- Strong controls software development background
- Good knowledge of electronic control system architecture and CAN communication protocol
- Strong knowledge of real-time control design methods and strategy development
- Understanding of hybrid and electrified vehicle systems
- Rapid control prototyping knowledge (i.e., dSPACE)
- Good knowledge of sensors and actuators in the electric powertrain
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Vector CANoe/ CANalyzer, C and C++
- Ability to understand electrical architecture, schematics, and drawings
- Strong interest in automotive/electric-vehicle development
- Must be a self-driven team player to perform in fast paced development environment
- Excellent communicator, team player, resourceful, organized, and mindful of time management.
- Self-starter, working well with little oversight, independently and/or as a part of a team
- Master's degree in Electrical/ Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience with real-time embedded e-powertrain control software and design experience including C/C++ Programming
- Experience with IBM DOORS, ETAS INCA, Embedded coder
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR signal naming convention
- Knowledge of ISO 26262
