Controls Engineer
We are seeking a talented and experienced Controls and Automation Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing control systems and automation solutions for the manufacturing processes across General Assembly, Body in White (BIW), and Battery Assembly. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency, precision, and overall excellence of our production operations.
Responsibilities:
· Prioritize safety above all to protect our team members, partners, and customers.
· Design, develop, and implement control systems for manufacturing processes in General Assembly, BIW, and Battery Assembly, ensuring seamless integration with automation solutions.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams in each department to understand design requirements and provide expertise on controls and automation feasibility.
· Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and other control system components across all manufacturing lines.
· Work closely with product engineering and production teams in General Assembly, BIW, and Battery Assembly to optimize automation solutions and troubleshoot issues for continuous improvement.
· Ensure all automation interfaces are compatible with the MES system and collect the required data and interface with associated systems
· Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in controls and automation, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency across all departments.
· Collaborate with external suppliers to source, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge control and automation technologies applicable to General Assembly, BIW, and Battery Assembly.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controls and Automation Engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Allen Bradley and RSLogix: In-depth knowledge and experience in programming Allen Bradley PLCs using RSLogix.
- Proficiency in creating ladder logic diagrams, implementing PID control loops, and configuring HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
· Proven experience as a Controls and Automation Engineer in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on General Assembly, BIW, and Battery Assembly processes.
· In-depth knowledge of control system design, PLC programming, HMIs, and automation technologies, with proficiency in Rockwell/Allen Bradley systems, and interfacing with MES systems.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize control systems.
· Experience working with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to achieve project goals.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
· Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality in control system design and implementation.
