Job Title: Instructional Coordinator

Primary Purpose:
Provide curriculum leadership and support classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program in the program/subject areas assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university with a major in assigned subject
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
ESL Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
10+ years teaching experience in subject area assigned
Instructional Coaching experience with teachers preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional and Program Management

  1. Work cooperatively with directors, campus principals, and campus instructional facilitators in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the instructional programs in assigned subject areas.
  2. Work with curriculum team to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis of the assigned subject areas.
  3. Collaborate with the district curriculum team to develop and revise subject area programs, related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum alignment guides, instructional and assessment practices to ensure vertical alignment.
  4. Assists in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs; ensures the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
  5. Evaluate the curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area based on evaluative findings (including student achievement data) and recommend changes as needed.
  6. Collaborate with campus instructional facilitators in alignment of instruction with district initiatives, planning, delivery and assessment of instruction.
  7. Work with campus instructional facilitators to model and observe classroom instruction. Provide reflective feedback based on effective models of instruction.
  8. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
  9. Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject area.
  10. Demonstrates skill in "coaching" staff, provides technical assistance to principals, teachers, instructional facilitators, and staff concerning the teaching/learning process, and encourages improved over-all performance.
  11. Maintain a resource library of publications, supplementary materials, best teaching practices, and supplies relevant to the assigned subject area.
  12. Participate in development, preparation, and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
  13. Provide support for the development, implementation and evaluation of the RTi program at the campus level.
  14. Provide support for the development, implementation and evaluation of the GT program at the campus level.
Staff Development
  1. Plan and provide staff development for administrators, teachers, facilitators, and staff in designated subject areas.
  2. Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in areas assigned.
  3. Develop professional skills appropriate for job assignment.

Budget and Inventory
  1. Participate in development, preparation, and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment and facilities in assigned area.
Other
  1. Convey information to parent and community members about school programs.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
