Consultant Technical Writer - Plant Based Food Manufacturing

Rebellyous Foods (RF) is a food production and manufacturing technology company. We are working to substantially increase the volume and lower the price of high-quality plant-based meat products to effectively serve the foodservice markets to replace animal-based meat on a large scale. We achieve this through the design, development, and implementation of new production equipment, methods and systems for enhanced plant-based meat production.
Rebellyous Foods is seeking a conscientious, flexible, and detail-orientedTechnical Writerto support the commissioning and deployment of novel plant-Based Food production equipment. This position will work closely with the Engineering Research & Development team, other consultants and the Vice President of Manufacturing & Logistics to develop technical content for novel, automated and continuous processing equipment being deployed. The Technical Writer will work independently as the sole Technical Writer, and with the ability to pivot and think proactively while this equipment is being commissioned, as there may be engineering changes made simultaneously.
Scope:
- Write detailed conceptual overviews, procedures, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, sanitation instructions, and safety instructions for newly built, first-of-a-kind pieces of equipment being deployed.
- Research as needed to produce work product for novel, first-of-a-kind pieces of equipment.
- Design and organization document sets.
- Communicate proactively with engineering teams and the leadership team.
- Convert specific feedback from the team into documentation.
- Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
- Create clear and concise documentation for greatest reader comprehension.
- Select the appropriate medium for the target audience, such as manuals, graphics, etc.
- Collaborate with consultants who are simultaneously working on data collection and methodology for data collection which may change or add to the equipment functionality.
- Prioritize challenges with urgency.
- Provide documents that address and reference food safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in a technical field.
- 3 years’ experience in equipment technical writing
- Understanding of Food Manufacturing/production, highly preferable
- Superior data, informational analytical skills and highly technical judgment is required.
- Compassionate people-management skills at all levels.
- Commitment to safety and supporting company safety initiatives.
- Experience in a start-up environment is highly desirable.

- Capable of making decisions independently and exercising excellent judgment.
- Handles confidential information with discretion.
- Strong work ethic, integrity and personal accountability.
- Proficiency in G-Suite applications as well as MS Word and Excel.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: All positions regularly require long hours and can require weekend or after-hours work.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, and reach regularly. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 35 pounds.
Location: This is not a remote position. Headquarters, Greater Seattle area. Travel may be required approximately 50% of the time to New Mexico partner facility.
Salary: Hourly 3 month consulting contract $42 to $53/hour based on experience. Paid off site travel with a stipend for meals with pre-approval.
