The Greenhouse Horticulturist position will play a vital role in the guest experience and upkeep of Conestoga House & Gardens. Day-to-day responsibilities will include physical maintenance of the gardens which include handling of herbicides and pesticides, mowing, edging, mulching, and weeding among other outdoor tasks. In addition this role will be guest facing and will assist with garden tours and on-site events.

This role will be a full-time, hourly member of the team but will work a flexible schedule to assist with seasonal work, plant care, tours and scheduled events.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain assigned property zone to the highest degree, which includes plants development and maintenance, identification and resolution of items for improvement, and overall beautification of the assigned zone.
• Assist with seasonal set-ups, and tear down, which includes Holiday Lights display.
• Be a trusted representative of CH&G, by providing on-site garden tours and assisting with on-site events.
• Maintain certification in the use of pesticides, fungicides and herbicides and keep all documentation up-to-date and organized.
• Use a variety of garden and power tools to maintain gardens.
• Maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated knowledge of plants and lawn maintenance.
• Proven ability to partner effectively and work in team environment
• Enjoys interacting with people and maintains a positive attitude
• Works with a sense of urgency; demonstrates timely and thorough execution of tasks
• Ability to lift 35 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

• Horticulture: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

• Lancaster, PA 17603: Relocate before starting work (Required)
