Job Description
This candidate is responsible for designing and developing high-voltage electric compressor electronics especially all EMC-related activities.
Primary Responsibilities
- EMC evaluation of PCM designs
- EMC test plan generation, including customer approval
- Lead/conduct developmental EMC testing at Novi and European facilities
- Oversight of EMC testing at customer-approved facilities
- Resolve EMC-related issues during product validation, launch, and in warranty
- Lead the design, release, development, prototyping, testing, and launch of electric compressor electronic modules
- Interface with the customer; negotiate packaging and technical trade-offs
- Perform PCB layout and design
- Conduct component-level bench testing
- Assess testing results and develop corrective actions
- Summarize customer specifications and interface with power and control engineers
- Develop and maintain a Bill of Materials, and provide direction to suppliers
- Release and sign-off of drawings
- Execute and document all required product design corporate deliverables.
- Interface with global PD and manufacturing activities.
Years of Experience
- 5+ years of related experience within a design engineering environment, preferably with automotive thermal management products, especially compressors
Education
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar technical degree.
Desired Competencies, Experience, & Qualifications
- 3+ years of EMC design and testing - Mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, test, and launch automotive components
- Understanding of HVAC/thermal and /or power inverter principles
- Experience in interpreting customer electrical hardware and software specifications
- Experience in quality disciplines such as DFMEA, SCIFS, etc
- Experience in project planning and management; ability to apply problem-solving skills
- Ability to conduct technical design reviews
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Practical experience with Altium or other electronics CAD tools
- EMC experience desirable
