Work Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week with flexible hours, with some weeknights and weekends
Location: Hybrid - Must reside in Portland Metro Area
Salary: $60,000 - $68, 000 (plus $4,000 hiring bonus if a certified THW)
Raíces de Bienestar (Raíces) is a nonprofit in Oregon dedicated to reclaiming the emotional and mental health of Latine communities across the state and beyond. Raíces offers a continuum of Latine culturally grounded wellness programs and services, focused working alongside traditional health workers and community leaders to elevate the strengths and wisdom of the community. We seek a skilled and experienced Latine-identifying bilingual community health worker to join our team and support both our Community Liberation Programs and our clinical services.
Primary Requirements and Functions:
The Community Liberation Program Coordinator works closely with Raíces’ leadership, traditional health workers, clinical team, and community advisory committee to ensure successful implementation of Raíces community programs, community outreach and community engagement activities. This highly organized, community-focused and motivated individual will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the Community Liberation Programs and assure all Community Liberation activities are in alignment with Raíces’ mission and vision. Specific roles and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Community Liberation Programs:
- Support quality and culturally specific curriculum development activities and materials (e.g. content development, cartas didacticas, revisions, facilitators documents) related to all Community Liberation Programming (e.g. Traditional Health Workers trainings, community outreach, and community engagement programs)
- Coordinate schedules and activities with facilitators, including traditional health workers, clinical team, and contracted talent to ensure successful execution of Community Liberation Programs and activities
- Prepare materials, including digital (i.e slide decks, registration platform) and tangible (i.e. catering, printing materials), and execute activities for Community Liberation Programs
- Coordinate, promote, recruit, register, engage and follow up with participants of Community Liberation Programs
- Support facilitation, in person and virtual, of Community Liberation Programs and activities (e.g. charlas, traditional health worker signature mental health curriculum, etc)
- Coordinate logistics, details, schedules and execution of Community Liberation Programs with community partners when appropriate
- Act as a consultant and support for facilitators in regards to use of popular education methodologies
- Ensure Community Liberation Programs are evaluated on an ongoing basis by using methods, technological tools, systems and guidance directly provided by department leads
- Incorporate evaluation feedback into ongoing program for quality improvement
- Ensure, with the support of the leadership team, that program planning and program forecasting are completed on an ongoing basis.
- Support other Raíces departments in planning, organizing and executing events such as mobile mental health clinics
- Coordinate tabling, outreach and promotional events, including but not limited to scheduling staff and volunteers, doing engagement activities and ordering materials
Community Advisory Committee (CAC):
- Coordinate meetings with community advisory committee members
- Facilitate community advisory committee meetings and ensure that community voices and input are integrated in all Community Liberation activities
- Support recruitment, retention and engagement of community advisory committee members
- Create meeting agendas, record meeting minutes, offer ongoing communication, and follow up with the community on needs post-meeting
- Coordinate participation and/or volunteering of community advisory committee members on Raíces’ programs
Administrative:
- Manage activities budget for Community Liberation Programs and outreach activities
- Partner with leadership team to deliver timely and well-written reports or presentations for funders, Board members, and external partners
- Manager, order and purchase supplies as well as maintaining inventory for Raíces’ storage units related to Community Liberation activities
- Ensure that all incentives and stipends are processed for Community Liberation activities participants in timely manners
- Complete expense reports in a timely manner
- Provide input and support for grant writing and development of contractual activities in conjunction with leadership
- Maintain tracking and planning tools on a timely basis (e.g. activity planners and collection of project data)
- Attend networking events and meetings with community partners and foster relationship with partners and funders
- Develop monthly Community Liberation newsletter to communicate to existing and potential program to participants and the community at large
- Support development of messages and promoting events on Raíces’ social media channels and other communication tools.
Supervision:
- Manage, support, mentor, supervise and evaluate a team of traditional health workers
- Hold weekly or biweekly supervision meeting of supervisees
- Maintain knowledge and continued education of best practices in supervising community health workers and promotores
- Ensure that supervisees and volunteers have adequate tools and resources to perform their duties and responsibilities
- Ensure that supervisees and volunteers are in compliance with organizational procedures and protocol
- Represent, as needed, Raíces in statewide initiatives where the traditional health worker perspective is needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or with 3+ years of related experience OR associate’s degree with 5+ years of experience
- Traditional health worker certificate (e.g. CHW, PWS, PSS, Doula, etc) preferred, or willingness to receive one year post-hire (a hiring bonus of $4,000 will be provided to an individual who is currently a certified traditional health worker)
- Identify as Latina/o/x/e and be bi-lingual in Spanish and English
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviors:
- Have high computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office products
- Have public presentation skills
- Be very adept at community engagement and/or community organizing
- Be able to work well in a team setting
- Be detail-oriented
- Have strong organizational skills and ability to plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrate excellent at follow-through
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience with popular education and/or liberation pedagogy practices
- Display excellent understanding of the healthcare, mental health and social service systems
- Evidence knowledge of the resources and community-based organizations in state of Oregon
- Exhibit ability to work independently in hybrid workplace
- Be able to work on a flexible schedule, including some weekends and evenings to participate and engage with community
- Be able to travel as needed for community events throughout state of Oregon
- Ability to develop and maintain strong and trusting relationships with community partner agencies
- Maintain confidentiality and abide by HIPAA and other professional and legal standards
- Strong collaborative spirit eager to actively participate as a member of a high-functioning team
- Ability to successfully contribute to the completion of goals and objectives aligned with the mission, vision and values of Raíces de Bienestar
