Description
Community Engagement Specialist
EMPOWER's Community Based Care program includes services to families that support the safety, permanency, and well-being of children in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). As the Single Source Continuum Contractor (SSCC) in Metroplex East (formerly referred to as Region 3E), EMPOWER will ensure the full range of services, which includes foster and kinship care, purchased services, case management, and reunification services. EMPOWER will fully engage the community to help achieve positive outcomes for children.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
You may be required to travel in order to attend meetings, training, or conduct business off site. You must have a valid driver's license and meet agency underwriting standards. You will not be required to transport clients.
Preferred :
Experience in juvenile intake, placement services, or other social service experience.
Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring quality of services and placement stability to children with level of care needs placed within EMPOWER and identifying gaps in services and developing/securing those needs within the community. You will promote the well-being of children, participate in staff meetings/trainings and coordinate with staff from other agencies involved in providing services to children, as well as:
- Identifies service gaps for children and families. Creates a relationship with potential service providers and is a liaison between them and permanency staff.
- Works within the community to develop new resources not currently available.
- Attends area resource/stakeholder meetings as assigned by the manager.
- May be required to travel in order to attend meetings, training, or conduct business off site. Must have a valid driver's license and meet agency underwriting standards if driving on agency business. Not required to transport clients.
- Refrains from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and/or interferes with the responsibilities of the position.
- Advocates, promotes, and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in all day-to-day interactions.
- Develops, promotes, and practices teamwork in all activities.
