Momentum Academy is a public charter school district with four campuses in St. Louis City, serving scholars in grades PK-8. Role
The Community Engagement and Communication Specialist will create and implement communications that help the district establish effective relationships with key stakeholder groups, and the general public. Responsibilities will include developing and managing the annual communications plan and sharing Momentum Academy's achievements, policies, and challenges through internal and external platforms.
Essential Responsibilities and Competencies
- Support partnership development that support Momentum priorities and goals, and ensure frequent, timely, and transparent communication with the media
- Influence public opinion to the district's point of view by educating the public on issues and building coalitions with the community while maintaining focus on educational and Communication strategies, in accordance with district policies and procedures
- Responsible for the marketing strategy, development, and production of social, digital, other media content and campaigns that serve district goals and priorities
- Maintain social media master planning calendar for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media accounts
- Coordinate photo and video coverage of district activities for the dual purposes of ensuring that accurate information is provided to the community and to promote the school district
- Write, develop, and produce/present various informational programs (slide presentations, speeches, newsletters, releases, crisis communication plans, etc.)
- Plan, develop, administer, supervise, and evaluate all aspects of the communications strategy and program
- Manage all aspects of the district website; collaborate with and assist building administrators with site-specific websites; provide frequent updates as needed
- Manage district mass notification system;
- Oversee branding and design standards, including production of written content
- Prepares and composes marketing and media materials for the District and Executive Director (e.g. creating social and digital media, television, and radio campaigns)
- Develop and maintain district visual identity (website, external communications i.e. newsletters, adherence to brand guide)
- Work closely with the Admissions to develop collateral materials and provide project support.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or a related field required.
- Master's degree and/or Accredited in Public Relations certification (APR) preferred.
Qualifications
- Four years experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or other related settings
- Experience working in the education sector preferred
- Experience using Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop/ Premiere / InDesign / Illustrator), Canva, Facebook Business Suite, and content management systems (CMS) for web and mobile apps.
- Excellent writing, editing, and copy-editing skills, including social media skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience engaging with diverse stakeholders
- A tireless work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and innovative solution finder.
