Starlight is looking for an arts education and outreach oriented "Star" to join our team as Community Engagement Coordinator! This will be a full-time, salaried position that will work year-round.


The Community Engagement Coordinator assists with the development, coordination, and execution of Starlight’s year-round, community-based initiatives. The role provides multi-faceted support to existing Community Engagement programs, including the Bob Rohlf Internship program, Community Tickets program, Just Imagine, and Fundraising Ticket Donations, while also assisting in the development of new projects related to community-building, including but not limited to, arts education and access initiatives, school/family performances, and community partnerships.


Required Accountabilities & Deliverables:

  • Provides day-to-day administrative support for Community Engagement department programs.
  • Cultivates relationships with local artists, community groups, schools, businesses, nonprofits, and prospective program participants by acting as a Starlight representative at community events.
  • Acts as a liaison to program participants, partnering organizations, performers, teaching artists, school district personnel, and external contractors associated with Community Engagement programming.
  • Coordinates with internal and external entities to schedule, confirm, and provide preparations and setup for meetings, events, workshops, and performances.
  • Tracks results of engagement efforts, including collection and compilation of various data points such as event attendance, demographics, survey responses, and resource allocations/inventories.
  • Meets regularly with Starlight staff to collaborate on cross-departmental initiatives and to assist with the advancement of Community Engagement program knowledge within the organization.
  • Assists the Community Engagement team with the cyclical evaluation of all programming and initiatives and provides thoughtful and creative recommendations for future growth and improvements.

  • Ability to express a passion for performing arts and Community Engagement and to effectively communicate the value of these areas to internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the arts, education, public administration, nonprofit management, family and community services, social work, or related field.
  • Prior experience in a community-oriented role, preferably involving programmatic interaction with young people, students, or families.
  • Prior administrative experience within an arts organization, education institution, community nonprofit, or experience as a practitioner or educator in the fields of arts and culture.

Other Working Conditions:

This role is primarily administrative/desk-based with a traditional on-site M-F work week schedule and general alignment with Starlight’s office hours with an expectation to attend night and weekend events as necessary and/or requested on an irregular/regular basis. Due to the nature of Starlight’s business, availability/communication may be required in cases of urgent or emergency matters during nights and weekends. This role is eligible for remote work up to two days per week as allowable by department schedules and program/event commitments. Access to personal transportation is required for this role as transportation of Starlight gear and materials to offsite community events is expected. Individuals in this role will be expected to lift up to 30 lbs. and participate in on- and offsite community events where extreme temperatures or other weather conditions may be present.
