PAX sapiens is hosted by the operating foundation One Earth Future. For more than a decade, One Earth Future (OEF) has worked to prevent armed conflict and promote stability through creative and inclusive problem-solving. We design integrated solutions for the hardest to reach places and most intractable conflicts in the world.
Primary Role:
PAX sapiens' impact strategy includes a strong strategic communications component. The issues we work on will only be solved through partnerships and collective action, and PAX will need strong communication capacity to build our brand and legitimacy as an organization and to drive attention to the issues we care about. This includes an expectation of campaigns, and the crafting of and placement in media of messages supporting our work and impact.
The Communication intern will report to the PAX sapiens Director of Communication. Working with the PAX team and alongside external fellows and experts in US- China relations and Global Pandemic Prevention from all over the world, the intern will be responsible for executing an active social media strategy across multiple platforms. They will help draft communications strategies and develop messages and campaigns that advance PAX's mission.

Location: Applicants must be located within commuting distance from Broomfield, Colorado. The Broomfield office is the PAX sapiens headquarters and operates on a hybrid in-office/work from home model. This position may have the option for remote work.
Compensation: $18.29 per hour 20 hours per week
Length of Commitment: Six Months
Primary Responsibilities:
- Help drive social impact and generate content on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube), through researching topics related to the organizations' operational fields and engaging with external experts, etc.
- Engage with social media followers and respond to comments/messages in a timely fashion.
- Use photos, videos, and graphic design tools (such as Canva) to create brand-aligned content for social media, newsletters and other channels of communication.
- Work to engage and grow a digital community of organizations, partners, and other leaders in pandemic prevention / international development sectors in order build relationships, collaborations, and awareness of PAX sapiens.
- Prepare short weekly summaries and monthly reports to track the growth and success rates of social media campaigns (using Google Analytics and PR/social media tracking software).
- Stay updated and informed on social media trends and adapt strategies and campaigns to align.
- Assist in content development, copy editing and layout/design for monthly newsletters and email blasts.
- Work with foundation staff to identify and place external media and op-eds that advance our communications goals in the media space.
- Assist with other comms tasks as needed, such as template/document formatting, managing photo/video libraries, printing, assisting with events, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or a currently enrolled student in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field, and has 1+ year(s) of experience working with social media.
- Must be available for up to 20 hours a week.
- High proficiency of leveraging social media for building brand awareness, engaging key audiences and building a community.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and understanding of PAX sapiens' missions and content marketing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and can prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and has a creative eye for high-quality graphic design, photography, etc.
- Demonstrated experience working internationally and across cultures in culturally sensitive and appropriate ways.
- Solid understanding of SEO and content marketing.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
- Familiarity with mass email distribution tool/software (Salesforce or similar).
- Experience working in nonprofits, or in the fields of international development, political science, or related.
- Direct experience and an active professional network in a field relevant to PAX's work, such as major donor philanthropy, US-China relationships, and/or pandemic prevention.
- Networks or experience in multiple issue areas or across issues are particularly valued.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin).
Physical Work Demands:
- Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
- Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly.
