Comité Civico del Valle, Inc. (“CCV”) is a California non-profit organization based in Brawley, California with the mission to improve access to healthcare, information, and prevention programs for low-income, underrepresented, and underserved community members in Imperial County via education, capacity building, and civic participation.
Position Description
The Communications Coordinator is an opportunity for an active, creative, and sociable storyteller to promote CCV’s communications and campaign strategies in the Imperial Valley and Eastern Coachella Valley environmental justice communities and California forward. The Communications Coordinator works closely with CCV’s management, community health workers, allies, and partner community-based organizations to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy; including advocacy and educational campaigns across local, regional, and national media. Strategies address the different outreach methods including print, digital, and social media. The Communications Coordinator will report directly to CCV management depending on campaign products as needed to implement communications strategies.
This is a full-time position.
Reporting Location
Comite Civico del Valle is based out of Brawley, California. The Communications Coordinator will report to the office at this location (Imperial County).
Responsibilities
Communications Strategy
- Develop, manage, and implement the strategic and comprehensive communications strategy that outlines the organization's goals and mission across various media platforms
- Lead the development and oversee the implementation of the organization’s campaigns, educational program promotion, and other priorities
- Create the messaging, talking points, and media strategy with metrics to track positive outcomes
- Support programs in the promotion of educational activities, results, and other report-back processes
- Oversee the production of content for campaigns and visual media
- Implement a strategy to develop communications reach by analyzing the impact and growing the reach of organizations' messaging
- Ability to gather support and information across all programs for the development and implementation of strategic marketing.
Publications and Special Events
- Maintain and improve the quality of the organization’s brand and voice through all communication strategies
- Work with other management to oversee graphics, writing, editing, and promotional material as required by programs
- Assist in planning and promotion of special events held either annually or planned for specific celebrations in the organization’s calendar
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a communications field such as marketing, advertising, multimedia production, or public relations
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Previous experience working on a team to develop comprehensive strategic goals
- Plus: Knowledge of environmental justice and its principles
