Job Summary:
ICUC is seeking a Director of Communications who will set up and guide the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations articulating ICUC’s mission. The Organizer of Communications will ensure that ICUC is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within our diverse network and constituent base. ICUC is working to reinvent congregational engagement and organizing by educating, mobilizing, and empowering a new generation of local community leaders on issues affecting them and their community. By doing this, congregants, institutions, and community members will participate in organizing and promoting our collective moral and social values. Through this we will bring opportunity and dignity to our families in the Inland Empire and build a better place for everyone. Job Activities:
Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across ICUC’s audiences in collaboration with the ICUC admin team.
Plan and develop online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate.
Put communication vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness and test the effectiveness of communications activities.
Implement on a regular basis ICUC’s website administration and coordination.
Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
Track and report on media outcomes and provide feedback to increase media presence, as needed.
Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, and ICUC’s website.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
Job Qualifications:
Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence"
High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
Preferred, but not required
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Reliable transportation and a driver’s license
Position Details
Must be willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends. This position is also hybrid, where some work may be done remotely.
Travel Requirements
This position is based out of San Bernardino’s main office, with travel around the Inland Empire, Sacramento, and Washington D.C.
