We are looking for a qualified and experienced mechanical construction Safety Coordinator to join the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of the workers and equipment on various high-rise commercial mechanical construction projects. You will also coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to implement and enforce safety standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and investigations to identify and eliminate potential hazards and risks and prevent injuries.
- Provide safety training, orientation, and guidance to workers and supervisors.
- Train employees in the proper usage of all PPE, fall protection, welding procedures, dust masks, etc.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations, codes, and company Injury Prevention Program.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents and injuries and recommend preventive measures.
- Communicate with project managers, contractors, and clients on safety issues and concerns.
- Review and update safety policies and procedures as needed.
- Monitor and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
- Plan company and project health and safety program and protocols.
- Present on the job and ad hoc safety training to field labor.
- Handle risk assessments to gather information on safety issues.
- Verify that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
- Analyze health and safety data.
- Review and recommend changes to work routines to achieve greater safety activities.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-4 years of new commercial high-rise construction experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role in the mechanical construction
- Complete knowledge of safety aspects working with HVAC, Mechanical engineering components with Plumbing and Pipe fitters as it relates to the safety aspects of the equipment these trades work on.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification desired.
- Knowledge of OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations, and codes.
- Must understand OCIP and CCIP projects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- A.A. degree in construction, safety or related program, or an equivalent of experience in commercial mechanical construction safety greater than the minimum required.
Skills
· Understanding OSHA guidelines and other state and local safety regulations and should have a keen sense of safety threats and how to handle/remedy them.
· Must work well on a team and collaborate with field labor and supervision to create a positive, supportive culture of safety on the job site.
· Familiarity with the tools, machines and equipment used in the workplace.
· Attention to detail.
· Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to teach others the established safety standards.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Computer literacy skills and comfort with several types of technology used in the industry.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
