Job Summary
This position exists to provide support and mentoring for healthcare sciences students in the Learning Center with their studying,course content, writing and reading skills. This position will provide supplemental tutoring and mentoring to IHCC students enrolledin nursing courses primarily but would be open to students from other health science courses. The position will observe the progressof students and communicate with faculty as needed, maintain confidentiality of student information, and assist students in test-review,hold tutoring sessions on an ongoing basis, and foster successful test taking strategies.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide supportive services to enhance retention and academic performance of college students enrolled in nursingcourses. Work directly with faculty to ensure student success and performance.
- Coordinate with faculty, dean, and Director of Nursing to improve student learning.
- Participate in all Student Support Service Program activities to assist in providing holistic services to students.
- Help student workers to provide exceptional service to students using the Learning Center.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and maintains an unencumbered Registered Nurse license
OR
- Six (6) months of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing at the high school level or above.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
- Knowledge and understanding of Starfish
- Understanding of FERPA
- Excellent interpersonal, writing and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Desire and interest to work with community college students.
- Training for and experience in working with students with learning disabilities, students of color, non-traditional students, under-prepared students .
Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State'svehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
