Storeroom Clerk

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the management of the facility inventory via SAP system.
• Responsible for initiating/placing purchase orders; this includes, finding the least expensive source for the inventory and to keep an accurate record of spending. All requisitions for parts on the open list should be processed within 1-2 working days
• Responsible for accepting all deliveries of stock. This includes ensuring that they are not damaged, and that order was received in full
• Responsible for organizing the dispatch of parts to be sent out for repair.  Ensure that the product is suitably packaged and that the delivery service used meets delivery time constraints
• Loading and/or unloading of vehicles and/or trucks or provide direction to others.
• All contractor requests should be processed within 3-4 days of request.    
• Stock Parts utilized should be re-ordered within 2-day time frame
• Responsible for inventory accuracy. Cycle counts must be completed on a regular and consistent basis
• Work closely with Maintenance Manager, Reliability Engineer and Maintenance Planner for on time project completion
• Housekeeping within the stores must maintain a 5S standard
• Limit visitations from outside vendors to only be when necessary
• The consumable parts of the stores need to be freely available to all engineers and supervisors; storeman function should aim to keep these items topped up by carrying out regular weekly audits.
• Responsible for access control during stores opening hours of unauthorised visitors.
• Engage in activities that will increase the efficiency of the function

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Higher education degree preferred
• Ability to learn storekeeping practices and procedures
• Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
• Ability to maintain SAP system and all order records
• An ability to work in a logical and structured manner, keeping excellent records and a disciplined approach to data management
• Three (3) years of experience in a stores/warehouse environment and experience in operating a computerized stores management system
• Conservant with inventory management and stock counting using SAP
