Full-Time, On Campus
Expected Start July 1, 2024
Full-time, on-campus tenure-track faculty position within the School of Arts and Sciences teaching undergraduate nursing courses on campus and supervising nursing students in clinical settings. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the Chair of the Department of Nursing. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of Nursing, the Dean of the School of Health and Science, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Teach courses within the prescribed nursing curriculum utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies to engage students in the learning process. A normal teaching load is 24 credits each year.
- Facilitate student development of knowledge, skills, and demeanor required for professional practice as a nurse.
- Supervise students in clinical settings.
- Advise students in the Department of Nursing.
- Stay abreast of scholarly developments in specific and relevant fields as well as current teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment.
- Contribute to the field of Nursing and/or the profession of college-level teaching.
- Participate in measures to maintain compliance with Minnesota State Board of Nursing and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
- Support the mission, goals and objectives of Crown College.
- Engage in general faculty responsibilities including but not limited to: participation in department and faculty meetings, care of students, Crown College committee assignments, and at least 10 hours of scheduled office hours per week to be available to students.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated experience and expertise teachingnursing courses at the college level.
- Demonstrated experience in simulation labs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education. Established ability to work effectively as a team member. Demonstrate excellence and professionalism in spoken, written and electronic communication skills when with prospective and current students, faculty, and staff, as well as clinical agency representatives. Ability to integrate collegiate teaching and the Christian faith. Experience evaluating students’ work and reporting results promptly. Agreement and personal alignment with the Crown College Statement of Faith and Community Covenant.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Science in Nursing
- Relevant experience as a nurse
- Current RN License
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification (or equivalent).
- Experience using computer technology in the teaching/learning process
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to the above minimum qualifications):
- Earned DNP, PhD in Nursing, or other equivalent terminal degree (ABD will be considered)
- Experience as a nurse in obstetrics, pediatrics, and medical/surgical
- Unencumbered RN Licensure in Minnesota
- 3+ years of full-time teaching experience, especially in Christian higher education
- Familiarity and/or experience with standards and assessments, especially related to the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Minnesota Board of Nursing
- Experience with advising
