General Position Description
The Coding, Engineering and Design Thinking Teacher will teach dedicated classes to Upper School (5-8th grades) students, support cross-curricular technology integration, and manage the STEAM Lab. We seek an innovative educator with coding experience and experience teaching upper elementary and middle school-aged students. Experience with designing and implementing student-centered technology and engineering curriculum, leading and engaging in Design Thinking processes, and working in a collaborative environment is desired. School for Children staff are expected to work 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Mondays through Fridays and until 5:00 PM on Wednesdays for a weekly afternoon faculty meeting.

Essential Responsibilities
- Teach skills-based coding, engineering, and Design-thinking classes to Upper School students, and partner with the 9/10s (4th grade) science classes in the Middle School
- Differentiate instruction to support group and individual learning
- Inventory and maintain all STEAM/Innovation lab materials, tools and equipment, including hardware and software
- Provide support to faculty on STEAM-related curriculum and instruction, including assisting with developing units, projects, or other educational technology applications
- Provide extra help to students as necessary during activities period and at other times
- Assess and write periodic reports on student progress
- Attend regular division, Math/Science department, and supervisory meetings, as appropriate
- Commit to addressing issues of social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-bias education in our curriculum and in our community
- Fulfill coverages and perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
- Bachelor's degree; Master's degree is preferable
- At least three years teaching experience
- Strong background in coding, engineering, technology, and/or Design Thinking
- Experience with programming, robotics, and 3D design technologies
- Practical knowledge of mainstream educational hardware and software applications
- Ability to work collaboratively and an interest in an interdisciplinary approach to education
- Knowledge of child development and progressive education
- Commitment to creating a safe, respectful and dynamic environment for students to learn and grow
