Job Title:CNC Programmer Department: Machine Shop

Reports to: Machine Shop Supervisor Effective Date: 12/4/2023

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Machine Shop Supervisor, the CNC programmer sets up, programs, and adjusts CNC manufacturing machinery and CAM computer software. Creates programs for machines including single and dual spindle turning centers and multiple milling machines. May operate computer-controlled machine (CNC) and uses precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work. You are expected to be motivated and dependable, able to follow directions, communicate effectively, and be able to work on a team.

Responsibilities:

• Create NC code using Solidworks and Mastercam software for machines.
• Design tools and fixtures for improved machining.
• Assist in ordering tooling for shop and machines.
• Understand speeds/feeds of tools and the effect on manufacturing cycle time.
• Provide direct support to each machinist and operator.
• Make sure area is kept organized & clean for safety and for company standard.

• Maintain accurate database of NC code for machines.
• Actively search for process improvement opportunities, while keeping production standards and safety as top priorities
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and job instructions.
• Check measuring devices on a rotational basis using standards established by the Quality Assurance department.
• Report equipment malfunctions and assists with routine maintenance and repairs.
• Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
• Train new employees as needed.
• Assist fellow coworkers in active problem-solving.
• Program, edit, and setup of CNC lathe with Fanuc control.
• Work machines such as; HAAS CNC vertical and horizontal mills, HAAS single and dual spindle turning centers equipped with live tooling, Hardinge Conquest 42 turning centers, and Mazak turning centers.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor on a daily basis.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, and work holding devices.
• Understanding of G-code programming and CAD/CAM software.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years previous experience using Mastercam software, including machine setup and operation.
• Minimum of 2 years leading and setting up operators
• Certified CNC Programmer a preferred.
• HAAS CNC certification preferred.
