A Recreation Programmer job is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department at Diamond Hill Community Center. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Sports Management, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in community center service or recreational programming experience.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Must pass physical, drug test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient skills using Microsoft Word and Excel applications. Able to create marketing materials and experience using social media.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating youth needs to create programs that provide character development.
  • Ability to maintain an untraditional schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain certifications in Adult and Child CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Able to pass a computer literacy test at time of interview.

The Recreation Programmer job responsibilities include:

  • Create, coordinate and market community center recreational, educational, leisure, athletic programs and operations.
  • Coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public.
  • Maintain inventory controls and conduct surveys to monitor the overall effectiveness of center programs and events.
  • Hire staff and participate in the training and motivation of subordinate community center personnel.
  • Work with youth involved in the afterschool program, school break camps, and summer day camp.
  • Heavy public and phone contact.

Physical Demand

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
