Clinical Specialty Pharmacy Account Manager – Remote
Position Scope: Join Cigna and have an opportunity to work for an organization successfully managing
medical specialty drugs for over 20 years. This is a growth position reporting to the Cigna Pharmacy
Sales and Account Management Clinical Strategy Lead. The individual in this role will be responsible for
supporting large scale medical specialty initiatives; including the launch and adoption of Cigna Pathwell
Specialty, a market leading new product created to reduce drug spend in the medical space. They will
play a critical role in supporting sales teams to position Pathwell Specialty by working closely with areas
across the organization, including Product, Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Marketing and
Communications, and Clinical. A major component of this role will be educating clients and brokers on
the value of Pathwell Specialty. This role consists of engagement with both internal and external partners,
and includes client and consultant/broker facing sales with a medical specialty focus.
Strategy, Planning and Execution
- Collaborates with internal partners to execute on the Pathwell Specialty business plan, including
achieving desired adoption rates.
- Collaborate with the sales teams and matrix partners to enhance Pathwell Specialty exception
rates and proactively address any potential obstacles or objections.
- Educate clients and broker/consultants about our medical Specialty Pharmacy programs to
support retention and growth of business.
- Support development and execution of other key medical specialty projects to drive retention of
the book of business.
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales team to meet adoption rates for Pathwell Specialty
- Collaborate directly with clients, sales, and account teams to educate about our specialty
pharmacy programs and promote the use of Pathwell Specialty, our most advanced medical specialty
management program.
- Respond to sales, upsell and general specialty benefit related questions and strategize on
opportunities. This support may include working on RFP language and interacting with consultants and
brokers.
- Partner with matrix organizations to ensure that appropriate action is taken to identify and
implement specialty drug initiatives, such as being a liaison between medical specialty product and
pharmacy Sales and Account Management.
- Provide leadership as the “go-to” subject matter expert within Cigna Pharmacy Sales and Account
Management for specialty medical and pharmacy benefit opportunities, including Pathwell
Specialty. Generously share, experience and insights as well as provide direction, collaboration and
assistance.
- Represents Cigna Sales and Account Management and clients as products are
developed. Requires management across highly matrixed organization in supporting specialty medical
and pharmacy benefit strategy
- Develops and implements communication and reporting mechanisms to manage issues, risks and
timely delivery of initiative results.
- Update on market trends, client requests, and overall effectiveness of medical specialty strategies,
in particular Pathwell Specialty.
- Provide input and offer recommendations for the future direction of Cigna’s Specialty
management strategy.
- Participate in industry events, follow industry developments, articulate opportunities, and threats
to team and company stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experienced Pharm D or bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with active registered pharmacist license
- 6 or more years of clinical experience, including client-facing account management and sales experience required. Medical Specialty Pharmacy management experience is a strong plus.
- Working knowledge of medical claims billing processes a bonus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel)
- Excellent communication skills, inclusive of written and presentation skills. Ability to interact with
all levels and diverse partners, including external clients and executive internal leaders
- Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to
speed in new business areas and new projects
- Highly organized with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and execute tasks with
strict deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and take initiative
- Strong analytic and decision-making abilities.

- Ability to develop effective relationships enterprise wide
- May require up to 20% travel
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 107,500 - 179,100 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
