Join Scripps as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), also known as Advance Practice Nurse (APN) and assume clinical leadership responsibilities for nursing and nursing practice in Med Surg and Emergency Services. You will be active in house-wide clinical program planning. The primary focus of this position is the advancement of expert nursing practice.
Evaluate clinical practice for patient care and monitors the standards of practice. Provide the use of evidence-based resources, change and system theories to promote organizational improvements. Facilitate point of service decision making activities, including but not limited to education, research and performance improvement for your areas of expertise.
This Exempt position is located at Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
• Two full-time equivalent years of experience as an RN.
• Provides portfolio for the interview with at least 2 examples of creative work such as articles submitted for publication, contributions to texts, papers written for nursing coursework., outlines for classes taught, examples of performance improvement projects or evidence-based practice change projects, evidence of leadership activities such as chairing a committee or output developed from activities submitted to a committee or task force.
• Clinical Nurse Specialists CNSs are registered nurses, who have graduate level nursing preparation at the masters or doctoral level as a CNS.
• Doctorate recommended.
Required Certification/Registration:
• Current CA RN license.
• California CNS certification required (May be in process of application at time of hire).
• National Board Certification through ANCC and or equivalent in specialty area preferred. C urrent American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
• Prefer three to five years working in specialty area.
• Prefer working experience in Emergency Services.
• Prefer experience in the CNS role.
• Prefer those with experience leading a project to measured outcomes.
• Preferred doctorate in nursing such as DNP, PhD, DNSc.
• Will accept EdD and others upon review.
