Job Summary

Orion Laboratories is in search of a licensed Laboratory Assistant to become a valuable member of our expanding team based in Baton Rouge, LA. As a certified Lab Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of our Laboratory Manager. This position entails data entry, specimen collection, preparing and processing patient samples for testing, and inventory management. An ideal candidate is an organized thinker who is task-conscious while working in a dynamic team environment. We value people who can strategically drive the team and serve as a liaison between the laboratory and our customers in response to inquiries and problems.

Salary and Benefits:

• Hourly Rate: $14.00 to $20.00

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Perform patient testing
• Coordinate and communicate client’s needs with laboratory staff and management
• Entering data and verifying information received from patient samples
• Order and log inventory into management systems
• Proactively identifying issues and escalating as appropriate to senior leadership

Qualifications:

• Active LSBME Laboratory Assistant License
• Associates degree (or equivalent experience)
• Essential skills in Email communications, and Computer systems such as Excel and Word
• Must be courteous with strong customer service orientation
• Ability to maintain a professional and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress
• Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing circumstances and respond strategically to customer needs
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with ambiguity
• Patient, communicative, team player that is detail oriented and has outstanding interpersonal skills
• Strong ability to translate complexity into simple and intuitive actions plans and communications
• Must be flexible and demonstrate the ability to quickly change priorities to meet business needs
