Description
The Missions Church Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is the main point of contact for Churches and helps to build relationships with churches and supports the ongoing efforts of the CE team. The CEC also leads the organization, coordination and execution of Church Engagement (CE) events, talks and training sessions. These events are held throughout the year, at churches or virtually, and can range from a handful of attendees to large gatherings with hundreds of attendees. The CEC supports the speaker(s), leads setup, mans the booth, handles Q&As at the booth, event take down, schedule coordination, event planning, coordination of the virtual event and more. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, be highly organized and have a friendly warm demeanor as they represent the Mission.
Essential Job Duties
- Act as representative of the Mission to churches, staff and donors
- Maintain a positive, pleasant, professional, can do attitude
- Lead the organization, coordination and execution of CE events whether in person or online
- Manages and coordinates CE email and hotline inquiries
- Coordinates with Churches and Mission departments on Mission/CE resources
- Regularly updates CE team on volunteer opportunities, GIK needs and changes within the Mission
- Help manage, schedule and coordinate the calendar of CE events
- Work with the CE Communications Specialist to make sure presentations, training materials, brochures and other resources are available as needed.
- Work with appropriate Mission staff to leverage Mission resources and expertise in support of local church partners, speaking opportunities, and other public engagement opportunities
- Manage event budgets and use GIK resources and other Mission resources to manage costs.
- Assist with planning, execution and evaluation of Church Engagement events
- Work with the Volunteer engagement team and other Mission teams to help coordinate church volunteers and volunteer groups
- Works with Donor Relations and GIK to support and engage churches
- Help identify potential churches, key individuals for CE engagement
- Maintain CE database in Studio Enterprise
- Have a working knowledge on issues surrounding homelessness, Mission programs, initiatives, communications & messaging. The CEC will regularly volunteer with our Outreach team, kitchen staff, Hope Place, Mens Shelter/Riverton staff, GIK and other Mission departments.
- Attend and participate in all Mission, division and department meeting and trainings, as required
- Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; bend, stoop or reach.
- Regularly lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
- Talk on telephone and use computer extensively.
Education
Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in event coordination or related field. Para-church or church experience a plus.
1 year of experience in a ministry of compassion environment desired.
Proven ability to maintain relationships, and take ownership over projects.
