Child Mental Health Therapist (Psychotherapist)
at Canopy Mental Health & Consulting (MHC)

As a Children's Mental Health Therapist, you will play a key role in providing individual therapy for children, adolescents and families from a diverse population using a client-centered and culturally responsive approach. Services are provided in an outpatient setting, both in-person and telehealth. This position is supervised by Canopy’s Clinical Manager and receives support from Canopy’s Lead Psychotherapist, and Administrative Team

Start Date: Immediate Opening
Location: Hybrid with office expectations of 3-4 days in clinic at one of our two outpatient clinics located at 6625 Lyndale Avenue, Richfield, MN 55423 and at 615 1st Avenue Northeast, Minneapolis 55413.
Hiring Salary Range: Starting salary will depend on licensure, skills and demonstrated readiness for the role.
Hours/Day: Monday-Friday, 40+ hours a week – including evenings and weekends when necessary. Available to offer 2 evenings or 1 weekend per week.
Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt

Essential Job Functions
Service Providing
  • Offer in-person and telehealth psychotherapy sessions to children, adolescents and families
  • Participate in two group consultation meetings per month
  • Ensure delivery of clinical services in accordance with professional and ethical guidelines, as governed by Minnesota state statutes, insurance contracts, and clinician's licensing board.

Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other providers, as needed. This could include, but not limited to school social workers / school counselors, case managers, psychiatry, or other Canopy clinicians, etc. to ensure appropriate coordination of care for clients.
  • Refer clients to appropriate levels of care, and/or other medical professionals or services that support client Mental Health.
  • Consult with the clinical manager(s), and/or lead psychotherapist as needed.

Documentation
  • Use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to maintain and store all necessary documentation and records (Canopy is a paperless company).
  • Complete all clinical documentation within a timely manner (Diagnostic Assessments, Treatment Plans, Psychotherapy Session Notes, Discharge Summaries, etc), this also includes submitting claims (billing sessions) using Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and any relevant correspondence in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Development
  • Complete continuing education and training as outlined by licensing board; this also includes completing annual Canopy HIPAA Training and Certification.
  • Training Time and Stipends are available to full-time clinicians.
  • Abide by professional codes of ethics and legal regulations governing the practice of psychotherapy, ensuring the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and client safety.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Must have completed Master’s Degree or higher in a Mental Health related field and clinical practicum and/or at least 6 months of clinical experience following graduation.
  • Must be licensed in the state of Minnesota to practice psychotherapy (LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, PsyD) or on a clinical licensure track.
  • Must reside in the state of Minnesota.
  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable in providing culturally responsive services.
  • Must have interest in working with children, adolescents and families.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of unsupervised practice as a psychotherapist.
  • Specialized training in trauma related modality or modalities.
  • Specialized training in working with children, couples, families.
  • Specialized training in working with marginalized communities.

Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines and filing cabinets. This role must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
