Kavod Senior Life provides Senior Living and Assisted Living apartment homes for adults 62 years of age and older (and people with qualifying mobility impairment disabilities). Kavod is currently seeking a FT Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team.

SUMMARY: Direct, administer and oversee the operational activities of Kavod Senior Life in support of the policies, goals and objectives established by the President/CEO and the Board of Directors. The COO provides executive support to the President/CEO, reports directly to the President/CEO and services as the second in command in the absence of the President/CEO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following as well as other duties as assigned):

  • Perform and/or supervise staff response and follow-up to resident concerns, complaints and other sensitive issues regarding apartment operations. Represent management’s interest in working with residents, families, regulatory agencies and community relations.
  • Works with the Chief Financial Officer related to developing and adhering to operational and capital budgets. Provides operational input to new programs and services being evaluated on the campus.
  • Monitors Dining Service operations, working with the Dining Services Director regarding personnel, budget, and customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluates the results of the overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these findings to the CEO.
  • Oversees the servicing and upkeep of the campus: works with the Director of Facilities to accomplish physical plant goals and on-going operations inside of the facility and on the property grounds including security oversight.
  • Oversees the development, administration, and oversight of programs for residents, and for performing appropriate managerial and staff functions. Works with the President/CEO and the Leadership team, to enhance the quality of life for residents at Kavod through the provisions of supportive, crisis, programmatic, case management, and other resident-oriented services.
  • In conjunction with the leasing department, assists with lease termination counseling and placement assistance as needed.
  • Oversees Life Enrichment and Health and Wellness programs that provide a full range of supportive services that enrich the quality of life for the residents at Kavod.
  • Meets with the Resident Council’s president on a regular basis to keep an open and clear channel of communication between residents and staff.
  • Serves as the facilities HIPPA Privacy Officer that includes all ongoing activities related to developing, implementing, training and maintaining our privacy policy.
  • Stays current with issues related to housing and support services for older adults and how it affects Kavod.
  • Develops policies and procedures and facilitates their implementation to improve overall operations of the facility. Works to problem-solve in order to ensure safety and well-being of the residents, and protection and viability of the agency.
  • Leads the Appeals Committee process for potential residents who have been rejected due to not meeting Kavod’s resident selection criteria.
  • Works with President/CEO and other key staff members in strategic business development and partnership endeavors. Works on special projects as needed.
  • Provides input into new grants and coordinates the implementation of those that are in the area of operations.
  • Oversees the Assisted Living Program, working with the Director of Assisted Living regarding budget, strategy, cost analysis, customer satisfaction, compliance and special programs.
  • Serves as member of the C-Suite and Leadership team’s that oversee organizational strategy, problem solving and all operational aspects of the organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees the Director of Assisted Living, Director of Dining Services, Director of Facilities, Director of Health & Wellness, Director of Life Enrichment and Night Managers and the functions they perform. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training/coaching employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing ongoing support and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Monitors time and attendance and provides timely feedback relative to employee performance as well as addressing corrective actions as appropriate.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
