Chief Information Officer Search

Texas Tech University (Texas Tech) invites applications and nominations for the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO).

As a member of the President's cabinet, reporting to the CFO and Senior Vice President for Administration & Finance, the new CIO is responsible for all Information Technology operations and management for Texas Tech University. Managing a staff of more than 140 personnel and an annual operational budget of approximately $25 million, vision setting, team leadership, clear and transparent communication and relationship building within the IT organization and across the community are critical to the CIO's success. While experience in a college or university is preferred, a true interest in how learning is enhanced by technology and a passion for serving students and the faculty and staff who support them will be important.
The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of ten years of experience with increasing responsibilities for management and leadership of information technology professionals; demonstrated experience in IT strategic planning, complex budgeting and personnel management; experience leveraging technology to achieve the most effective and efficient solutions to support teaching, research, and student learning and business processes; experience with cybersecurity issues and solutions, and demonstrated experience in working in an environment that requires a high degree of customer service skills and a proven commitment to promoting and maintaining a service-oriented culture. Bachelor's degree in business, technology or related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.

Ellucian Banner serves as our student information system {SIS) and resource planning system (RPS). Storage needs are managed through a combination of on-premises options, through TOSM and ITTS, and Azure services support our cloud storage needs. Texas Tech operates through an internal network infrastructure, encompassing high-speed data centers, fiber optics, and Wi-Fi networks across the Lubbock campus. This internal network serves as the foundation for connecting various devices and applications across the university.
