JOB SUMMARY
To advance the ministry of Pasadena Christian School, a Non-denominational Pre-School through 8th grade School, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will effectively manage the Business Office as a servant leader and maintain ethical and professional standards according to a Biblical worldview.
SCOPE
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for record-keeping and reporting of financial information. This will include but is not limited to supervising all financial-related activities, budget development, forecasting future growth, financial transactions, record keeping, financial reports, analyzing, strategizing, and determining/reporting the financial health and activities of the School.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Direct and prepare all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and all related reports.
· Develop, distribute, and monitor procedures for purchasing, receiving, collection, reimbursements, and payroll.
· Work under the direction of the CEO/Head of School to plan and establish priorities for school finances.
· Prepare monthly financial statements for presentation to the Board of Directors.
· Analyze and report budget variances.
· Coordinate the budgeting process, including the operating budget, for approval by the Board of Directors.
· Make and oversee necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
· Report capital improvement budget, enrollment, and personnel projections.
· Analyze and make recommendations for reorganization, downsizing, or elimination.
· Prepare and participate in the annual financial audit process conducted by the outside accounting firm. Present findings to the Board of Directors.
· Prepare and provide information to the outside accounting firm for annual tax returns.
· Oversee depreciation schedule.
· Review, recommend, and approve 403B plan sponsorship.
· Create, maintain, and update contracts for the School.
· Prepare and distribute department budgets quarterly.
· Perform bank reconciliations.
· Work closely with the admissions department regarding enrollment and the development office on outside sources of funding.
· Review and manage the Tuition Assistance Program.
· Oversee accounts payable and receivables.
· Assigned other tasks and duties directed by the CEO/Head of School

SKILLS/ABILITIES AND EDUCATION
· Has leadership qualities, determination, confidence, and strong decision-making abilities.
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
· Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.
· At least 10 years of financial experience.
· Bachelor’s degree required. A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance is preferred.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Certified Public Accountant is highly preferred.
· School setting experience is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
